Investing in the Future

“With this investment, we are creating ten new jobs and securing the future of our company. Photovoltaics, together with our in-house wood chip production and heating system, enables us to become energy self-sufficient. At the same time, our investment project represents a major technological step forward,” explains RDG-Managing Director Franz Kobleder.

The investment project is scheduled for completion in August 2024.

Green Energy for a Sustainable Business Model

The RDG Group’s business model is based on responsible circular economy principles and makes an important contribution to greater sustainability. Plastics and metal-plastic composites are processed at RDG using state-of-the-art technologies and returned to the production cycle as high-quality regrind and regranulates. Certification according to ISO 9001:2015 guarantees the highest quality standards across all processes.

“The expansion of our photovoltaic system to 1 megawatt, combined with our wood chip heating system, makes us energy self-sufficient. This allows us to make an important contribution to climate protection while reducing our dependence on high energy prices and securing our competitiveness at our site in Upper Austria,” explains Kobleder, highlighting the company’s focus on green energy.

Production Capacity Almost Doubles

“Rising raw material costs and increasingly strict environmental regulations confirm that our business model is the right one. Demand for high-quality regrind and recycled materials continues to grow steadily. That is why now is the right time to significantly expand our production capacity,” says Kobleder, convinced of the investment’s potential.

With the expansion of the company’s site to 50,000 m² and the consistent expansion of its technical facilities, annual production capacity will increase from 16,000 tonnes to 30,000 tonnes. As a result, the RDG Group will achieve annual CO₂ savings of approximately 60,000 tonnes.

Responsible use of raw materials is part of our DNA. That is why RDG-Plast also develops waste management concepts aimed at collecting as much material as possible in a properly sorted form.”

From Waste to Valuable Recycled Material

The RDG Group has established a comprehensive recycling concept. From developing waste management concepts for the separate collection of materials to producing the finished recycled material, the Mühlheim-based specialist handles all process steps in-house. An innovative separation process ensures the high quality of the resulting regrind and recycled materials. It combines a high-performance shredder, near-infrared spectroscopy, optical separation using colour sensors, an eddy current separator for metal separation, friction washing, dry cleaning and high-precision density separation. Quality assurance and analyses are carried out in the company’s in-house laboratory.
