Fire drill:
Explosion in Hall 2
A scenario that could have catastrophic consequences in a real-life emergency was professionally simulated on 6 September during a fire drill at the RDG Recycling Group’s facilities. Two fire brigades, FF Mühlheim am Inn and FF Moosham, were called upon to tackle the drill scenario ‘Industrial fire, explosion in Hall 2’.
A large number of emergency personnel and emergency vehicles
With a total of two fire trucks, two small vans and around 30 highly motivated firefighters, the two local fire brigades set out for the exercise. Under the leadership of the two commanders, HBI Christian Frauscher and HBI Johannes Buchner, the aim was to successfully manage the exercise scenario.
Explosion in Hall 2
In consultation with our production manager, Andreas Regl, a challenging yet realistic drill scenario was devised. The drill scenario involved an explosion in Hall 2 on our production site. To make the situation as realistic as possible, the hall was filled with thick smoke using a smoke machine.
Staff participation in the fire drill
Three employees of our production team also helped with the preparations for the drill. The firefighters were able to count on their support during the drill as well. They volunteered to act as stand-ins and had to pretend to be missing employees who had lost consciousness on the factory premises.
Successful rescue operation
The rescue teams working in breathing equipment made their way through the smoke-filled production hall and were able to locate and rescue the missing people. This smooth rescue operation highlights the high level of professionalism of the fire services and their ability to act efficiently in emergency situations.
Company tour
After successfully completing the drill, we opened our doors for a company tour. As a thank you for their outstanding commitment and excellent cooperation, Managing Director Franz Kobleder invited the fire brigades to enjoy some food and drink at the debriefing session that followed. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local fire brigades for ensuring the drill went so smoothly.
The fire drill was not only an important step towards safety and cooperation, but also an opportunity to express our appreciation for the local emergency services. We are proud to partner with them to ensure the safety of our staff and our business.
